THE five family members of the suspect in the Ulu Tiram police station attack in Johor Baru on May 17 arrived at the court complex at 9am.
According to reports in the New Straits Times, security was tight and close to 30 police officers were escorting the five individuals.
They are expected to face several charges, including under Section 130J(1)(a) of the Penal Code.
Earlier, the vicinity of the Johor Baru High Court Complex was tightly guarded by dozens of police officers since 7am today.
The five, aged 19 to 62, were arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act.
During the 2.45am attack on May 17, constables Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, and Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, 24, were killed after they were assailed by a man wielding a machete. Corporal Mohd Hasif Roslan, 38, was shot.
The 21-year-old attacker was eventually gunned down.
Following the attack, police arrested the five family members of the suspect, along with two other people, all of whom were remanded for a week to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – The Vibes, June 19, 2024
