AS a sign of protest against the government for not giving constituency allocations to opposition lawmakers, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he would run 200km from his constituency to Parliament in Kuala Lumpur.

The former Muda president announced this effort, dubbed “Langkah Muar” in a short video posted on X last night.

“Langkah Muar is also initiated to raise funds for the Muar community service centre.

“It’s been over a year since constituencies held by opposition MPs received any allocation, while government MP constituencies received RM20 million.

“The government asked to negotiate and I have met the deputy prime minister twice and written letters but there have been no new developments.

“I cannot give up and instead of complaining, I better act on it,” he said.

In the past, Syed Saddiq has joined the Fundraiser Botak Challenge, where he shaved his head, organised ThunderBOLD classes, cooked and sold lasagna, and even modelled in support of various causes.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had last year urged opposition MPs to resume discussions with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof regarding allocation requests for their respective constituencies. – The Vibes, June 27, 2024.
