SHAH ALAM – Selangor is expected to attain herd immunity in less than a month following the collaboration between the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) and the state government’s Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax).

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in a statement said 65.5% of adults in the state have received their first dose.

“Based on the capacity so far, the state government is confident that the integrated cooperation between PICK and Selvax can see Selangor attaining herd immunity in less than a month. The herd immunity target is expected to be achieved when 80% of the adult population is vaccinated.

“The Selvax initiative that is currently being implemented will continue until August 11 as part of the state government’s strategies to accommodate and expedite the implementation of PICK.”

Apart from appointments received via the MySejahtera and Selangkah apps, he said, walk-in vaccination will also be implemented in selected constituencies.

“This will take effect on August 2, subject to the implementation schedule in the constituencies concerned, involving 12 vaccination centres that will each be allocated 1,300 doses a day.

“It is hoped that this effort will complement Operation Surge Capacity in the Greater Klang Valley.” – Bernama, August 1, 2021
