KUALA LUMPUR – Netizens have been “triggered” by the recent posts on disgraced former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s Facebook page even though he is serving jail time in Kajang Prison after the Federal Court upheld his SRC conviction.
The most recent post, believed to have been posted by the page administrator, was to express condolences for Queen Elizabeth II, who died in the early hours today.
“Deepest condolences to the royal family, the government and the people of the United Kingdom on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
“We look back fondly at memories of her visit to Malaysia and her graciousness as host during our engagements in the past. She will be missed by all in the United Kingdom and all around the world. The world mourns with you,” the message said.
It was accompanied by a photo of his father Tun Abdul Razak Hussein meeting the queen and another of Najib shaking hands with her.
However, the post – which garnered more than 33,000 likes and 2,600 comments – saw many asking how Najib was able to post on Facebook despite being in prison.
“No hot water for shower, no power plug. Only fan, books, tablet, power bank and WiFi,” commented a Facebook user known as Paul Loh.
Another user, Bhuvan Sharma asked Najib to post a selfie while alluding that the former prime minister had not personally made the posts.
“Selfie sikit bossku (Give us a selfie, bossku). Now we know you don’t own your Facebook write-ups,” Bhuvan wrote, referring to Najib’s popular moniker.
Similarly Twitter user @Aisehman asked whether the inmates at Kajang Prison were accorded internet access.
“All the inmates at Kajang Prison are allowed internet access? What are they using? handphones? Laptops? What’s the WiFi password?”
Semua banduan kat penjara Kajang dibenarkan main Internet ker? Pakai apa? Handphone? Laptop? Apa password Wi-Fi … mALuApaBo$$Ku? https://t.co/hsQJEaEUPA pic.twitter.com/Oy1TsPmtdf

The screenshot of Aisehman’s post was also forwarded many times throughout today.
Najib was sent to Kajang Prison on the evening of August 23 after the Federal Court upheld the conviction brought against him for abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust over SRC International Sdn Bhd funds amounting to RM42 million.
Since his imprisonment, the Prison Department had denied that he was accorded special privileges, including access to better food, beds and even air-conditioning installed in his prison cell.
On September 4, Najib was admitted to Kuala Lumpur Hospital after falling ill while his daughter Nooryana Najwa said it was due to a recurring stomach-related ailment.
She posted on her Instagram page that her father is prone to stomach ulcers, especially when under stress or due to gastritis.
Najib has since filed a petition for a royal pardon and his MP status will only be decided after the petition process is completed. – The Vibes, September 9, 2022
