PUTRAJAYA – The government has never appointed a third party to manage the Return Recalibration and Labour Recalibration Programmes under the Illegal Immigrant Recalibration Programme, which started on November 16.

The Human Resources Ministry, in a statement today, said since the Illegal Immigrant Recalibration Programme’s launch, it has received 113 applications from employers, involving 17,292 quotas to employ foreign workers.

“Monitoring is being conducted from time to time, to ensure that the implementation of the the programme is not manipulated by any irresponsible party.

“The ministry views this matter seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation to prevent the manipulation of employers or illegal immigrants.”

It said legal action will be taken against irresponsible parties under Section 7 of the Private Employment Agencies Act 1981, which provides for a maximum fine of RM200,000, or imprisonment not exceeding three years, or both, upon conviction.

The programme is implemented by the ministry through the Labour Department, in collaboration with the Immigration Department. – Bernama, November 27, 2020
