KL-bound MAS flight forced into emergency landing in Hyderabad, says report

A MALAYSIA Airlines flight bound for Kuala Lumpur from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in India was forced to make an emergency landing after one of its engines caught fire mid-air, the Times of India reports.

It was reported that flight MH199, carrying 138 passengers, took off at 12.45am but returned to the Hyderabad airport because of technical reasons. The flight was initially scheduled to take off at 12.15am.

A viral video of the plane with the engine on fire was posted online by one of the passengers. Passengers are said to be stranded at the airport as the plane is still on the ground.

MAS has yet to issue a statement on the incident. – June 20, 2024.
