POLICE arrested three men for staging a fake robbery using a fake pistol which they filmed and later posted on social media.
Kuching police chief Ahsmon Bajah said the three locals, between the ages of 23 and 26, were arrested in Matang by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department.
Police got wind of the prank after discovering the video of a purported robbery or hijacking in a carpark.
“The three had admitted that the incident was a prank.
“They also admitted to using a fake gun and filming the incident.
“We have seized a fake pistol and a car,” Ahsmon said.
The suspects have been remanded and are being investigated for using a fake firearm and violating the communications and multimedia laws. – June 24, 2024.
