KUALA LUMPUR – PAS is a hot favourite among voters and will pull a surprise by wresting Selangor from Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the coming state polls, its Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari claimed.

Fadhli, who is Pasir Mas MP, said this is based on a recent survey he conducted on the state, ahead of an election due by the middle of this year.

Chiefly, he attributed this to disgruntled PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters who took issue with the two coalitions cooperating to form the unity federal government, despite earlier affirming otherwise.

“Alhamdulillah, just completed surveying Selangor. Bright chance of capturing the state government in the coming state election,” he said in a brief Facebook post just past midnight today.

“BN voters who have been cheated by claims that BN will not cooperate with PH, please vote for Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“Likewise, PH voters who truly believed that a vote for PH meant rejecting BN and felt deceived, do vote for PN.

“This time, God willing, we will conquer Selangor. We will defeat both BN and PH,” he added.

Following last year’s general election, PH, BN, and other political outfits had decided to accede to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s advice to form a unity government, with only PN opting to remain in the opposition.

In the 2018 federal polls, PH won a staggering 51 of the 56 available seats in Selangor, with BN and PAS securing four and one, respectively.

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli had said in a recent state PKR election convention that PH is expected to comfortably defend Selangor, albeit with a lower number of seats.

Selangor is one of six states that must conduct its state election by the middle of this year, upon the end of the current term of their assembly, the other five being PH-held Penang and Negri Sembilan, and PN-held Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu. – The Vibes, January 24, 2023
