KUALA LUMPUR – A scandalous event featuring muscular male performers from Thailand clad in lingerie and skimpy waitress outfits does not align with the values espoused by the Malaysia Madani concept, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

According to Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak, and Special Functions) Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, the event featuring a performance dubbed “Thai Hot Guys” should not be associated with the Madani agenda.

“The Madani framework was constructed to cover all Malaysians. As such, don’t associate (the event with the concept).

“The government does not have that sort of agenda and will not undertake such unhealthy programmes,” he said in response to a question from Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (Pasir Mas-PN).

Fadhli, who is also PAS Youth chief, had queried the deputy minister on whether the controversial event scheduled to take place during the holy month of Ramadan aligns with the Madani concept.

“If (the event does not suit Madani principles), I am sure that there will be calls (from the government) for it (the event) to be cancelled,” he said.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Privacy Club Tun Razak plans to have the Thai Hot Guys as the main attraction for its opening on March 30, with the group of buff male performers expected to entertain guests while wearing scanty outfits.

Online publicity of the club’s opening event has since drawn protests from PAS and Umno figures.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan slammed the event, claiming that it promotes hedonistic culture and promiscuity, while Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said the party wing would be lodging a police report.

Subsequently, the prime minister’s political secretary Azman Abidin said that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is preparing to take action against the operators of the event’s venue as it does not have an entertainment licence.

He added that preliminary checks by DBKL found that the premise in question is licensed to Beijing 9 Sdn Bhd as a restaurant, with its restaurant permit having expired on February 4, 2021. – The Vibes, March 22, 2023
