KUALA LUMPUR – Felcra Bhd has so far implemented four mega indoor broiler chicken farms throughout the country to cater to domestic demand.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also rural and regional development minister, said the projects are carried out in Tg Seratus, Kuala Rompin (300,000 birds/cycle); Sg Damak, Lipis, Pahang (250,000 birds/cycle); Padang Terap, Kedah (250,000 birds/cycle) and Paloh 4, Gua Musang, Kelantan (250,000 birds/cycle).
He added that the projects had the potential of changing the landscape of small towns or rural areas into high-quality, productive areas.
“This initiative will benefit participants by allowing them to build careers and generate income, as well as filling job vacancies.
“It will also generate various local economic activities, including service and maintenance, landscape work, construction and contractual work,” he posted on his Facebook page today.
Zahid also said that the projects are part of the government’s continuous efforts to boost the people’s standard of living through the Felcra Transformation Plan 2.0 and to strengthen the national economy.
He stressed that the food security issue is an important element in the government’s efforts to ensure that the resilience of the food supply chain in the country.
The mega indoor broiler chicken farm projects, an initiative under the 12th Malaysia Plan, aim to boost chicken supply in the domestic market and to provide jobs to Felcra participants. – Bernama, June 19, 2023
